During my time on The Apprentice, Sir Alan made it very clear he didn't like marketing and advertising people. I found my morals and actions were constantly being questioned.
To be honest, I don't blame him. Over the years, marketing has earned quite a bad reputation, and for good reason. Unfortunately, it is not a regulated industry like law or medicine. Therefore, absolutely anyone can declare that they are a marketer. This makes it very hard for businesses to know who to trust.
As a result, most companies waste over 50% of their marketing budget on services they don't need that yield very little to no results. In some cases, it even puts them out of business.
I designed Sarsaparilla to help save and protect companies from The 3 Marketing F's - Flash, Fluff and Fakers.
Our approach at Sarsaparilla is very different from most marketing agencies. We view marketing as a science with functional and measurable results. Creativity is just one piece of a much larger puzzle.
We believe marketing is an investment, not an expense. We strive to educate our clients so that they can make better choices without us, not depend on us. And we offer impartial advice so that clients know that we are guiding them in the best direction possible.
To some I may sound foolish, naïve, and idealistic, but I believe that there is a place for honesty and integrity in business…especially marketing.
I regret not communicating these feelings and ideas to Sir Alan on The Apprentice, but I am grateful to have the opportunity to communicate them to you.
Thank you for your time. We hope to have the pleasure of working with you soon.
